From Blueprint to Leading Smart City

The Smart Putrajaya narrative was formalised in 2019 with a comprehensive blueprint — charting Putrajaya's transformation into Malaysia's premier smart city model. Every milestone reflects deliberate infrastructure investment, seamless cross-agency collaboration, and citizen-centric innovation.

Putrajaya Smart City Blueprint (PSCB) Approved & Launched

Following its formulation process since June 2017 and management approval on January 29, 2019, the PSCB was officially launched at DiPEC 2019 (October 3-5, 2019). It was systematically realigned to map to the national Malaysia Smart City Framework (MSCF) launched on September 23, 2019.

Putrajaya Command Centre (PCC) Launched

The Putrajaya Command Centre (PCC) is an integrated smart city operations hub located at the Perbadanan Putrajaya Complex. It was officially launched on October 3, 2019.

Putrajaya Mobile App Pilot Launched

The official smart city mobile app platform was launched as a collaborative pilot project with Touchpoint International to connect citizens and local businesses.

MySejahtera App Launched (COVID-19 Response)

The MySejahtera app was launched nationally by KKM to manage the pandemic, serving as the central platform for contact tracing, health screening, and vaccination management.

Cashless Parking & Payment Initiatives Deployed

Putrajaya's public parking facilities began transitioning to cashless e-payment systems, including TNG eWallet, FPX, and QR-code payment acceptance across major car parks.

Putrajaya Urban Observatory (PUO) Established

The PUO was established as Putrajaya's centralized data integration and analytics platform, aggregating IoT sensor feeds, geospatial data, and operational metrics into a unified intelligence layer.

PLANMalaysia Level 1 (Early Adopter) Assessment Achieved

Putrajaya achieved official Level 1 (Early Adopter) certification under the PLANMalaysia Penarafan Bandar Pintar framework, validating foundational smart city implementations.

PLANMalaysia Level 2 (Developing Smart City) Assessment Achieved

Putrajaya successfully progressed to Level 2 (Developing Smart City) certification under PLANMalaysia. Alongside this achievement, the official Smart Putrajaya Portal & Data Dashboard was launched to provide transparent, public-facing visibility into indicator performance.

Production MyPutrajaya Mobile Application Launched

Launched during the Putrajaya Open Day (POD 2026), the new production MyPutrajaya Mobile Application went live, replacing the old pilot platform with a fully integrated citizen-municipal interface.

Level 3

Target: Level 3 (Leading Smart City) Certification

Strategic active target for Putrajaya to achieve PLANMalaysia Level 3 (Leading Smart City) certification, demonstrating mature smart city governance, integrated command operations, and sustained MS ISO 37122 indicator performance. Official audit by PLANMalaysia is scheduled for 3 & 4 August 2026.

Perbadanan Putrajaya begins the development of the new PSCB for the period of 2026-2036 to succeed the current 2018-2025 Blueprint, outlining the strategic path towards achieving a Level 4 Visionary Smart City.

Long-term visionary goal for Putrajaya to achieve PLANMalaysia Level 4 (Visionary Smart City) status by 2036, positioning Putrajaya as a global reference city for sustainable, data-driven, and inclusive urban governance.
