Overview
The Recycling Collection Programme is a community-focused environmental waste diversion framework designed to cultivate circular economy behaviors in Putrajaya. Organized by Alam Flora Environmental Solutions (AFES) with strategic backing from Perbadanan Putrajaya (PPJ) and SWCorp, the programme provides structured buy-back and drive-thru infrastructure across key municipal precincts. By offering financial incentivization for sorted waste, the programme encourages residents, students, and businesses to actively separate waste at the source.
Community Recycling Network & Operating Schedules
The programme utilizes a network of specialized collection hubs strategically positioned across Putrajaya’s residential and commercial nodes:
- Drive-Thru Recycling Centre (DTRC) Presint 5 (FIKS):
- Location: Located at the Fasiliti Inovasi Kitar Semula (FIKS) in Presint 5.
- Operating Days: Monday to Saturday (Closed Sunday)
- Operating Hours: 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM (Rest Hour: 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM)

- Buy Back Centre Presint 9:
- Location: Strategically located in the heart of Presint 9.
- Operating Days: Daily (Everyday)
- Operating Hours: 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM (Rest Hour: 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM)

- Location: Positioned for Presint 18 neighborhood convenience.
- Operating Days: Saturday and Sunday only

Accepted Recyclable Materials
To support comprehensive solid waste diversion, the centers accept a wide array of sorted household and commercial recyclables:
- Paper Products: Newspapers, Black & White Office Paper, Mixed Paper, Magazines, Cardboard packaging, and Beverage Cartons.
- Plastics & Glass: Various plastic categories (HDPE, PET) and Glass Bottles / Flat Glass.
- Metals: Aluminium Cans and other scrap metal materials.
- Specialized Streams: Electronic waste (E-Waste) and Used Cooking Oil (re-routed for bio-diesel manufacturing).
Residents can drop off their separated recyclables, get their weights verified on certified scales, and receive financial payouts based on current buy-back rates, driving waste minimization while advancing Putrajaya’s sustainable city metrics.
